Statutory Bodies
Statutory Bodies under the Turks and Caicos Islands Government (TCIG) are autonomous organisations established by law to carry out specific functions on behalf of the government. Each body operates under a distinct legal framework and are designed to bring specialised expertise and focused management to their respective areas, supporting the implementation of government policy and the delivery of critical public services.
While Statutory Bodies enjoy a degree of independence in their day-to-day operations, they remain accountable to government oversight, typically reporting to ministries relevant to their sector. Their responsibilities include effective resource management, ensuring regulatory compliance, upholding standards of service, and promoting the welfare and development of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Through these roles, Statutory Bodies help ensure that essential services and sectoral development are managed efficiently and in the public interest.
The Ministry of Finance has three Statutory Bodies under its portfolio namely; Invest Turks and Caicos, National Insurance Board and the Statistics Authority.
Invest Turks and Caicos Islands
Invest Turks and Caicos is dedicated to providing free and confidential advice and support, including: information on the local business climate; facilitating the investment process through liaison with key Government Departments; advice on Government incentives and concessions to investors; introductions to local service providers/suppliers; advice on immigration matters, including permanent residence certificates; and specific ongoing support following the set up of a business.
TCI National Insurance Board
The National Insurance is the sole provider of social insurance benefits to persons who are gainfully employed within the Turks and Caicos Islands between the ages of 16 and 65 years. The National Insurance Board (NIB) is a statutory body of the Turks and Caicos Islands Government. The board’s Head Office is located in the capital island of Grand Turk as well as a branch office with other branches in South Caicos, North Caicos and Providenciales.
Statistics Authority Turks & Caicos Islands
The Statistics Authority provides a quality, timely and accurate statistical information that can assist public and private sector management and decision-making.
