Responsibilities and Function

Heads of Departments within the Ministry of Finance are responsible for managing the daily operations and staff within their respective units. Their key functions include but are not limited to implementing government financial policies, ensuring effective revenue collection, and overseeing budget preparations in line with national objectives. They also monitor departmental compliance with fiscal regulations, report on financial performance, and identify areas for process improvement or cost savings.

In addition, department heads are tasked with advising senior ministry leadership on specialised matters impacting their units. They lead initiatives to enhance service delivery, ensure adherence to government standards, and facilitate staff training and professional development. By coordinating department activities and collaborating across units, the heads of departments play a vital role in achieving the ministry’s overall goals for sound financial management and economic development.
