Turks & Caicos Islands Statistics Authority

The Turks and Caicos Islands Statistical Authority is the official national statistics office for the Turks and Caicos Islands. It is responsible for the systematic collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of reliable social, demographic, and economic statistics to support evidence-based decision making by government, businesses, researchers, civil society, and the public

History

Originally established under the Government’s Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, the Statistical Office formally took shape in 1998 after restructured finance functions created space for a dedicated statistics unit. Over time, the statistical function evolved and strengthened to become a standalone institution, reflecting growing demand for high-quality, timely, and comprehensive data about the territory.

Recognizing the need for a more robust, modern and independent statistical framework, in December 2022 the Government passed the Statistics Authority Ordinance, establishing a formal Statistical Authority with enhanced powers, oversight, and a National Statistical Committee to guide its work.
