It is responsible for the systematic collection, processing, analysis, and dissemination of reliable social, demographic, and economic statistics to support evidence-based decision making by government, businesses, researchers, civil society, and the public<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>History<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Originally established under the Government\u2019s Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, the Statistical Office formally took shape in 1998 after restructured finance functions created space for a dedicated statistics unit. Over time, the statistical function evolved and strengthened to become a standalone institution, reflecting growing demand for high-quality, timely, and comprehensive data about the territory.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recognizing the need for a more robust, modern and independent statistical framework, in December 2022 the Government passed the Statistics Authority Ordinance, establishing a formal Statistical Authority with enhanced powers, oversight, and a National Statistical Committee to guide its work.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Vision<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be the trusted and authoritative source of high-quality statistical information for the Turks and Caicos Islands\u2014providing data that meets international standards for social and economic analysis, informing transparent, evidence-based public policy and private sector planning.<\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Mission<\/strong><\/p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To support sustainable development and improve outcomes for our residents by delivering timely, accurate, and accessible statistics.
